The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), established in 1917, is one of India’s oldest and most respected research institutions dedicated to the preservation and study of India’s civilisational knowledge. Over the past century, BORI has built an invaluable collection of 28,000+ manuscripts and 1,50,000+ rare books.

The Institute is globally recognised for producing the Critical Edition of the Mahabharata, a landmark project that took nearly five decades and has shaped Indological scholarship worldwide.
