Course Overview
This course delves into select Suktas — sacred hymns — drawn from three of the four Vedas: the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, and the Atharvaveda. Through careful study of these ancient compositions, you will encounter hymns dedicated to prominent Vedic deities as well as those reflecting on cosmological and social themes.
The four Vedas contain numerous hymns known as Suktas that offer praises to various Vedic deities. These compositions served as rich sources for ideas of worship and were recited during the performance of yajnas. The study of select Suktas represents a continuation of the quest for ancient knowledge, opening a window into the world of the Vedic epoch.
Designed and delivered by Dr. Mugdha Gadgil, this course traverses themes of divinity, nature, society, cosmos, and consciousness — offering a holistic glimpse into Vedic thought.
